NURSE PROJECT IN LIBERIA
We have a project where 15 nurses recently joined our crusade to create self sustaining orphanages in Liberia. Our person in charge is named Joseph and I have known him for about three years now. Together he and I are creating a self sustaining orphanage like I already had helped create in Wanga Parish Uganda with my friend Martin. Joseph saw my facebook postings about this orphanage and he had 50 orphans he was feeding and one day the price of rice went up by FOUR TIMES. He suddenly reallized he needed to open a self sustaining orphanage.
Joseph took a bus to this farmland area and he located some land for sale and then by me posting on facebook every day for months and months, we eventually bought 4 one quarter acre lots and we built an orphanage one step at a time. First he and his volunteers cleared the land on a level spot and built the foundation, then the walls, then the roof, then the ceiling, then the windows and doors. He is a builder by trade and so are his volunteers and so we had no labour costs, just raising money for materials. They even hand dug their well and installed a big hand pump.
He kept telling me he had a sister who was in nursing school and she wanted to join our crusade to save orphans. She then one day showed up after graduation and brought two friends who also just graduated nursing school with her!! I raised money to get them each a mattress and bedding.
THEN I heard that twelve other nurse graduates were very disappointed because they had wanted to join too. So I said “Tell them they are welcome to come too!!” My facebook friends sent money for each to have a mattress and bedding.
Currently all these nurses started a training program and suddenly 6 more nurses showed up!!! These 6 nurses soon after dropped off from lack of transportation but they will again join us once all their 15 friends complete their training program. Those 15 nurses can train them.
These nurses once fully trained on specific life skill courses will be sent out to areas hit by malaria and typhoid outbreaks to hand out free medical help, medicine, health information to prevent disease and life skills training to villagers. During these events they will tell people about the idea of having a self sustaining orphanage with the goal to have these orphanages all over Liberia to save the massive orphan population of over 23,000 beautiful children.
HOW CAN YOU HELP??? WE ARE LOOKING FOR MONEY TO BUY MEDICINE, ITS NOT EXPENSIVE TO CURE MALARIA AND TYPHOID AND UTI INFECTIONS AND WORMS. MALARIA IS THE NUMBER ONE KILLER OF CHILDREN IN AFRICA!!! IT COSTS $2 PER PERSON TO CURE IT AND PEOPLE LOSE THEIR KIDS BECAUSE THEY DON’T HAVE THAT $2.
ITS COSTS US ABOUT $400 TO SUPPORT THESE NURSES WITH FOOD EVERY WEEK.
These nurses have turned down paid jobs to be a part of this crusade and they deserve to be supported and fed well while helping to save children and others. These nurses are warriors for freedom and health!!!!They are going to give the orphanged children of Liberia a future!!! Many orphans have goals to become nurses and doctors because they lost their parents to diseases like ebola, typhoid and even starvation. These children are the future and they have compassion and understanding beyond most people for their fellow man.
PLEASE HELP SUPPORT THESE NURSES AND THIS PROJECT!!!
